In this article, you will learn about the Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP) and how it\u2019s supported in Applivery to streamline and automate Apple device enrollment.<\/p>

Apple Device Enrollment Program (also known as DEP) is a tool integrated into Apple Business Manager that allows organizations to fully automate the enrollment process of Apple Devices in MDM solutions like Applivery. In the beginning, it was focused on new devices but starting with iOS 11, now it supports enrolling already purchased devices as well. DEP helps organizations enable supervision, MDM enrollment, skip setup steps beside many other features.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

How to configure Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP) in Applivery<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Applivery provides seamless integration with the Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP) for purchasing app\u00a0and book licenses and installing company-private apps to manage Apple devices running iOS and macOS.<\/p>

In this article, you will learn how to configure the Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP) in Applivery. There are some pre-requisites that you must take into consideration:<\/p>

  1. You already own an Apple Business Manager<\/a>-approved\u00a0account for your organization.<\/li>
  2. You have an active Applivery Apple Device Management license<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>

    \u00a0<\/p>

    If that’s the case, the next steps are:<\/p>

    1. Configure a new MDM Server in\u00a0<\/span>Apple Business Manager<\/a> (read the steps below).<\/li>
    2. Create a DEP Profile.<\/li>
    3. Sync Applivery with Apple Business Manager.<\/li>
    4. Assign DEP profiles to new devices.<\/li>
    5. Initialize the device.<\/li><\/ol>

      Step 1 - Configure a new MDM server in Apple Business Manager<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
      \n\t\t\t\t\t

      Step 1.1 - Get your Public Key Certificate<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
      \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign in to the Applivery Dashboard<\/a> and navigate to Device Management > Configuration > Apple > DEP<\/strong>.\n\nThen click the Download Publick Key<\/span> button.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
      \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"\"\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

      A file called\u00a0Applivery DEP PublicKey (ORG NAME).cer<\/code>\u00a0will be downloaded.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

      Step 1.2 - Create a new MDM Server in Apple Business Manager<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
      \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

      1. Sign in to Apple Business Manager<\/a> as a user who has the role of Administrator or Content Manager.<\/li>\n \t
      2. Click your name at the bottom of the sidebar, click Preferences<\/span>\u00a0(1)<\/span>, then click MDM server<\/span> (2)<\/span>.<\/li>\n \t
      3. At the top, click Add MDM Server<\/strong> (3)<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
        \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"abm-dep-add-mdm-server\"\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
        \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

        Name the new MDM Server (1)<\/span> and click Choose File…<\/strong> (2)<\/span> under MDM Server Settings<\/strong>, then select and upload the .cer<\/code> file you downloaded from Step 1.<\/p>

        Then click Save<\/span> (3)<\/span>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        The new MDM server will be created in Apple Business Manager and you will be redirected to the details screen. At the top, click Download Token<\/strong>.<\/p>

        A .p7m<\/code> file will be downloaded.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNow get back to the Applivery Dashboard and scroll down until step 5 of the setup process.\n\nClick the Select<\/span> button and upload the .p7m<\/code> file you downloaded from ABM in the previous step.\n\nThen click Finish configuration<\/span>.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        Step 2 - Create a DEP Profile<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
        \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tDEP profiles define how new devices will be enrolled in Applivery MDM and the initial configuration of those Apple devices. They allow you to configure setup screens, multi-user, or supervision mode besides other features.\n\nLet’s get started!\n\nFrom the Applivery Dashboard<\/a>, navigate to Device Management > Configuration > Apple > DEP<\/strong>.\n\nNext, click on DEP profiles<\/span>.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

        A modal view will open, providing you with the following options:<\/p>

        1. View all existing DEP profiles.<\/li>
        2. Create a new DEP profile.<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThen click the + Create DEP Profile<\/span> button.\n\nAs you create the profile, you can assign it a Name (1)<\/span> for future reference and select the desired enrollment options (2)<\/span>.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\"create-dep-profile-1\"\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOptionally, you can also specify additional information (3)<\/span> for the profile such as the Department, support contact information, language, or region.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tLast, you can select the setup steps you want to skip (4)<\/span> during device provisioning.\n\nby default, all of them will be unselected so that the standard setup process is displayed.           The new DEP profile will be added to the list and will be ready to be assigned to new devices.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

          Step 3 - Sync with Apple Business Manager<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

          Now that your Applivery account and Apple Business Manager (ABM) account are connected, you can Sync them to retrieve all the new devices that have been added to ABM and configure them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

          \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

          Just click the Sync with ABM<\/span> button to start the syncing process and get the very last updates from Apple Business Manager.<\/p>

          New devices will be added to the list below.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

          \n\n\t\t\t\t\t\tNote<\/span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\tNote that the Sync with ABM<\/span> button has been placed here to allow you to manually trigger a syncing process with ABM but this is a process that will be triggered automatically every hour on your behalf.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t
