This is commonly used to enroll Apple devices in Apple Business Manager (ABM) and take advantage of Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP) to handle device provisioning and through MDM solutions such as Applivery.<\/p><p>Apple Configurator is available in two versions:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Apple Configurator for Mac:<\/strong> a macOS app that supports an extensive range of configurations that can be deployed to devices such as security requirements, passcodes, VPN configurations, certificates, WiFi configurations, apps, etc. Bear in mind that all these configurations are also available in Applivery. It supports deploying configurations to iPhones, iPads, and Apple TVs.<\/li><li><strong>Apple Configurator for iPhone:<\/strong> an iPhone App that allows administrators to <strong>enroll Mac devices running T2 or M1 chip running macOS 12.0.1 or later<\/strong> in Apple Business Manager. Older devices can only be added to Apple Business Manager at the purchase moment, through the wholesaler, or by entering the order number in Apple Business Manager<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a2241a9 elementor-alert-warning elementor-widget elementor-widget-alert\" data-id=\"a2241a9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"alert.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-alert\" role=\"alert\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-alert-title\">Note<\/span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-alert-description\">Note that enrolling devices through Apple Configurator with supervision mode enabled or using Apple DEP requires a factory reset and your device will be wiped.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ce8d2f7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"ce8d2f7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">iPhone and iPad enrollment using Apple Configurator for macOS<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-51c41d6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"51c41d6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Devices are normally enrolled using the Enrollment link method where a link is sent to the employee who proceeds with the enrollment autonomously. That method makes sense for small organizations with a small number of devices.<\/p><p>However, it does not scale for companies with a large number of company-owned devices that need to be set up. Instead, organizations normally decide to use <a href=\"\/docs\/mobile-device-management\/apple\/apple-device-enrollment-program-dep\/\">Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP)<\/a> but not all the devices will be already included in Apple Business Manager so, in those cases, they can be added through Apple Configurator.<\/p><p>Let\u2019s take a look at the different steps:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-87a5483 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"87a5483\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Step 1 - Download Apple Configurator for Mac<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-df4a201 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"df4a201\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>To start, if you haven\u2019t already, download\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/apple-configurator-2\/id1037126344\">Apple Configurator from the Mac App Store<\/a>. You might have to click <strong>Trust<\/strong> on your device to allow the connection. If you wish to add mobile devices to your Apple Business Manager (ABM) portal from Apple Configurator, enable the <strong>Add Apple Business Manager<\/strong> option. The device is left at the Setup Assistant, and the user completes the enrollment. Select this option if you have an existing device that already has a record, and is managed by your MDM solution. This can include managing all the Setup Assistant steps so that the user gets a device that\u2019s ready to use.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Supervise devices: whether the device will be supervised or not.<ul><li>Allow devices to pair with other computers: discontinued feature from iOS 13<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Enable shared iPad: whether shared iPad will be enabled or not.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d9cbe28 elementor-alert-warning elementor-widget elementor-widget-alert\" data-id=\"d9cbe28\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"alert.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-alert\" role=\"alert\">\n\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-alert-title\">Invalid Profile [MCProfileErrorDomain \u2013 0x3E8 (1000)] error<\/span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-alert-description\">In some cases you may receive the following unexpected error:\n<pre>\"Invalid Profile [MCProfileErrorDomain \u2013 0x3E8 (1000)]\"<\/pre>\nIn that case, just unselect the <strong>Activate and complete enrollment<\/strong> option and prepare again your device.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f86cd16 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f86cd16\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Step 4 - Create a new MDM server<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-982da70 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"982da70\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Considering that you selected <strong>Manual<\/strong> in the previous step, Apple Configurator will ask you now to assign the device to an MDM Server.<\/p><p>Select <strong>New Server\u2026<\/strong> if you haven\u2019t completed this process before.
