Managing user permissions is a critical aspect of device security and control in enterprise environments. In certain scenarios, it\u2019s necessary to create local administrator accounts on Windows devices\u2014for example, to allow IT staff to perform maintenance, deploy software, or troubleshoot issues without relying on domain credentials.<\/p>

With Applivery, you can automate the creation of local admin users across your fleet through policy configuration. This ensures consistent access control, simplifies device management, and reduces the risk of manual errors.<\/p>

Using the Accounts CSP<\/span><\/strong> through Applivery\u2019s Custom Policies<\/span><\/strong> configuration, you can deploy OMA-URI\u2013based policies to create a local user and assign them administrator rights.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Step 1 - User creation<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Once in the\u00a0Applivery dashboard<\/a>, head to the\u00a0Device Management<\/strong>\u00a0section and select\u00a0Policies<\/strong> (1)<\/span>. Choose the policy where you want to create an admin user.<\/p>

Next, in the left-hand menu, select + Add configuration <\/strong>(2)<\/span>, search for Custom Policies<\/strong> (3)<\/span>, and then click + Add Value<\/span> to create the new configuration.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Use the following OMA-URI to create a new local user account:<\/p>

  • OMA-URI<\/strong>:<\/span> .\/Device\/Vendor\/MSFT\/Accounts\/Users\/<username>\/Password<\/code>.<\/p>

    <userAdmin><\/code> represents the local username\u2014replace it with the desired name for the new user account.<\/p><\/li>

  • Format<\/strong>: String (chr).<\/span><\/li>

  • Value<\/strong>: <\/span>This value sets the password for the local account\u2014replace it with the password you want to assign.<\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    To make the newly created user a local administrator, apply this OMA-URI:<\/p>

    • OMA-URI<\/strong>: <\/span>.\/Device\/Vendor\/MSFT\/Accounts\/Users\/<username>\/LocalUserGroup<\/code>.<\/li>
    • Format<\/strong>: Integer (int).<\/span><\/li>
    • Value<\/strong>: <\/span>2 (this value describes the local administrators group).<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
