Applivery becomes first UEM to deploy Post-Quantum Cryptography across Apple devices

Securing iOS 26, macOS 26, and iPadOS 26 Devices Against Quantum Threats – starting today. We are proud to announce the most significant cryptographic security upgrade in Applivery´s history, the first implementation of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) across its entire Device Management (MDM) platform for Apple devices.

This groundbreaking achievement places Applivery at the forefront of cybersecurity, enabling organisations to secure their iOS 26, macOS 26, and iPadOS 26 devices against the imminent threat posed by quantum computing. By integrating quantum-secure encryption today, Applivery is delivering unparalleled, future-proof protection for sensitive data managed across Apple’s ecosystem. This proactive step ensures that customers are equipped for a new era of cryptography, well before quantum computers pose a serious risk to conventional security protocols.

This milestone ensures that data in transit between Apple devices and Applivery’s cloud infrastructure is protected not only against today’s attackers, but also against future adversaries equipped with quantum computers. The upgrade is live and requires no action from IT teams — delivering seamless, quantum-resistant protection by default.

What Is Quantum Computing?

Quantum computing represents a paradigm shift in the way computers process information. Unlike classical computers, which store data in binary bits (0s or 1s), quantum computers use qubitswhich can exist in multiple states at once thanks to the principles of superposition. This allows quantum systems to perform complex calculations at speeds unattainable by today’s machines. Another core property, entanglement, allows qubits to be correlated in ways that make quantum algorithms exponentially more powerful for certain tasks; including breaking cryptographic systems once considered uncrackable.

One of the most well-known examples is Shor’s Algorithm, which can efficiently factor large integers — the mathematical backbone of widely used encryption schemes like RSA and Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC). If a sufficiently powerful quantum computer were built, it could break these cryptosystems in minutes — rendering most of today’s internet encryption obsolete.

Harvest now, decrypt later: a threat we must address today

Although quantum computers with these capabilities doesn´t exist yet, adversaries are already collecting encrypted data in transit — emails, messages, health records, financial transactions — with the intent of decrypting it once quantum computers become powerful enough; an attack scenario known as Harvest Now, Decrypt Later (HNDL). This means the sensitive data you send today could be exposed tomorrow, even if it appears secure now.

Harvest now, decrypt latter attack

Governments and standards bodies are treating this threat with increasing urgency. The UK’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has published guidance on PQC, urging organisations to prepare for migration strategies before the threat fully materialises. Similarly, the European Union has identified quantum-safe cryptography as a strategic priority in its cybersecurity threat landscape. Meanwhile, in the United States, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is leading the global effort to standardise quantum-resistant algorithms, having already selected several for adoption in government and industry systems.

This international alignment makes it clear: the time to act is now. Transitioning to PQC is not just a milestone — it is a matter of long-term data privacy, regulatory foresight, and strategic resilience.

Applivery: fresh, innovative & now Quantum-Safe

Applivery is a next-generation Unified Endpoint Management (UEM) platform that helps organisations securely manage Apple, Android, and Windows devices at scale; from deployment and configuration to compliance and automation.

In a space often dominated by slow-moving legacy vendors, Applivery was built to be different: cloud-native, automation-first, and relentlessly focused on innovation. We don’t wait for compliance mandates to force change, we anticipate them. That’s why we invested early in PQC, becoming the first UEM to deploy quantum-safe encryption across managed Apple devices. We believe future-proofing endpoint security is not optional — it’s essential.

And this is just the beginning. Applivery is actively evolving towards Autonomous Endpoint Management (AEM), i.e. intelligent endpoints that can take autonomous action based on performance, compliance, configuration, and user experience data. As defined by Gartner, AEM represents a critical evolution in Endpoint Management, aiming to reduce operational burden while enhancing cybersecurity and protecting user experience. Quantum safety is a foundational step in realising that vision.

Making it happen: Applivery's PQC implementation details

Applivery’s PQC implementation focuses on securing key exchange mechanisms within the MDM communication. We’ve integrated Post-quantum Hybrid Public Key Encryption (HPKE), specifically leveraging the X25519MLKEM768 algorithm. This hybrid approach combines the established security of classical elliptic curve cryptography (X25519) with the quantum resistance of ML-KEM-768, ensuring robust protection even if only one of the underlying algorithms proves resilient.

On the client side, our MDM agent on iOS 26, macOS 26, and iPadOS 26 devices utilises Apple’s new quantum-secure TLS 1.3 APIs. This ensures seamless and secure key establishment for device enrolment, policy enforcement, and data synchronisation.

On the server side, Applivery has upgraded its infrastructure to support PQC communication, primarily through the integration of TLS 1.3 via OpenSSL 3.5.0, which includes support for the necessary quantum-safe algorithms. Cloudflare has also been configured between our clients and servers to utilise X25519MLKEM768.

This comprehensive upgrade ensures the entire communication channel between managed Apple devices and the Applivery MDM server is protected with quantum-resistant encryption. Furthermore, for symmetric algorithms like AES, Applivery strictly adheres to the principle of doubling key lengths to enhance quantum resistance, meaning we use a minimum key size of AES-256. This mitigates the weakening effect of Grover’s algorithm on symmetric encryption.
