Apple doesn’t always need a stage. This week, it opted for a series of announcements: on Monday, an iPad mini redesigned from top to bottom; on Tuesday, an iMac and a 14-inch MacBook Pro introducing the M6 chip, a major Apple Creator Studio update and, almost under the radar, Siri AI finally speaking Spanish; and on Wednesday, the main event: an OLED MacBook Pro that is also the first-ever touchscreen Mac.
If you’ve lost track of the press releases, here are Apple’s October 2026 announcements, organized and explained without the jargon, with official prices for Spain. Everything comes from Apple Newsroom. No rumors.
The essentials in 30 seconds
The change you’ll notice most: Siri AI now speaks Spanish with the 27.2 update, but for now you can only use it on Mac. It remains blocked on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch in Spain and the rest of the EU.
The biggest headline: the MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display is the first Mac with a touchscreen.
The date to remember: Friday, November 6. That’s when the iPad mini, iMac and both new MacBook Pro models arrive in stores. Pre-orders opened on October 28.
New iPad mini (2026): OLED display, A20 Pro chip and water resistance
Monday, October 26. Apple calls it “the biggest update ever to iPad mini.” Given what’s changed, that’s no exaggeration: it’s thinner, water-resistant and has a very different display.

The OLED display grows to 8.5 inches without making the iPad itself any bigger, thanks to thinner bezels. According to Apple, its peak brightness is more than double that of the previous model. For the first time, it’s also available with nano-texture glass, the glare-reducing finish previously reserved for iPad Pro. There’s a minimum-brightness mode for reading in bed and an anti-reflective finish for working in sunlight.
The body is now just 5.4 mm thick and introduces IP67 water and dust resistance. Apple’s announcement names doctors, field technicians and pilots among its most frequent users. An iPad that can handle the rain is useful to all of them.

Inside is the A20 Pro chip, designed for artificial intelligence and gaming. The front camera moves to the iPad’s landscape edge, matching how you hold it during a video call. A sound system built into the display itself, Wi-Fi 7 and Apple’s new modem on cellular models round out the update.

iMac with M6: Apple’s all-in-one steps up a gear
Tuesday, October 27. The iMac keeps what works: the 24-inch display, ultra-thin design and seven colors remain. The changes are on the inside, and there are plenty of them.

According to Apple’s figures, the M6 chip delivers up to twice the graphics performance of the M4 iMac and up to five times the speed for AI tasks running on the device itself. If you’re upgrading from an Intel-based iMac, Apple promises up to an 18-fold improvement. There’s also Wi-Fi 7, storage that’s up to twice as fast and an optional 2.5 Gb Ethernet port.
Apple continues to position it for families, students, creators and small businesses: the computer at reception, in the shop or on the kitchen table that needs to last for years.

14-inch MacBook Pro with M6: up to 24 hours of battery life
Tuesday, October 27. This is the most affordable MacBook Pro in the lineup, aimed at students, professionals and creators. The only change is the chip. But the chip changes almost everything.

Apple claims up to 30% better graphics performance and up to 25% better performance in AI tasks compared with M5, alongside up to 24 hours of battery life, the longest ever on a Mac. It comes with 16 GB of memory as standard, Wi-Fi 7 and fast charging: a 50% charge in 30 minutes with a compatible higher-wattage charger.

Siri AI in Spanish: available on Mac, blocked on iPhone in the EU
Tuesday, October 27. It didn’t get a major press release or a product photo, but for anyone using an iPhone, iPad or Mac in Spain, it’s the news of the week. With the 27.2 updates, Siri AI, the new Siri Apple introduced in September, now speaks Spanish, as well as French, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese.
But on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, Siri AI remains blocked throughout the European Union, including Spain. Apple says opening the assistant to third-party apps, as required by the Digital Markets Act, is incompatible with its current design, and there’s no timeline for resolving the issue. The only official way to try it right now is on Mac, which falls outside the regulation.

Apple describes it as a more conversational, more personal Siri. It can search your messages, emails and photos to find what you need, understand what’s on your screen and answer questions on almost any topic. According to Apple, these features rely on on-device processing and its Private Cloud Compute system to protect privacy.
Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese will arrive before the end of the year.
How to enable Siri AI in Spanish
Requirement
Update to iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2 or macOS 27.2 on a device compatible with Apple Intelligence.
On iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, there’s no way to enable it in Spain or the rest of the EU, regardless of which update you install. Apple continues to block it there because of its dispute with Brussels over the Digital Markets Act, with no resolution date.
Apple Creator Studio: AI in Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro and Pixelmator Pro
Tuesday, October 27. Apple Creator Studio is the subscription that brings together Apple’s creative apps on Mac, iPad and iPhone. The November update adds AI across the suite:

- Final Cut Pro integrates MotionVFX’s library of effects and templates, along with a collection of stock footage selected by Apple.
- Pixelmator Pro introduces Generate Fill: select an area of the image, describe what you want to change and the tool generates it.
- Logic Pro gets a redesign, gains the ability to isolate drums from recorded songs and adds a sound pack from Sergio George, a 20-time Grammy winner known as “the King of Modern Salsa.”
- Keynote, Pages and Numbers add an assistant that understands the document you’re working on: it designs slides, writes text and creates charts.
The fine print
According to Apple, the assistants in Logic Pro, Keynote, Pages and Numbers are launching in beta and, for now, only in US English.

MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display: the first touchscreen Mac
Wednesday, October 28. Apple saved for last the announcement people have been predicting for years. The new MacBook Pro with PROLED XDR display, available in 14 and 16 inches, introduces three things the Mac has never had before.
1. A tandem OLED display
Apple calls it “the world’s best laptop display.” It reaches 2,000 nits of brightness and a 10,000,000:1 contrast ratio, covers the P3 and Adobe RGB color spaces, and is designed for photographers, video editors and designers who need accurate color outside the studio.
2. A touchscreen, for the first time on a Mac

Scroll with one finger, zoom with two, drag a slide from one presentation to another. It all works alongside the familiar keyboard and trackpad. According to Apple, many apps support touch from day one, including Microsoft Office, Zoom, Canva, Notion and Adobe Lightroom. There’s an interesting detail for developers too: they can test their iPhone and iPad apps using touch, directly on the laptop’s screen.
3. Dynamic Island comes to Mac

The “island” familiar to iPhone users appears at the top of the display, providing a shortcut to search, Siri AI and real-time notifications.
Beyond that, it’s thinner and lighter. Apple lists 3 pounds for the 14-inch model and 4 pounds for the 16-inch, roughly 1.36 and 1.81 kg. It offers up to 24 hours of battery life, uses M5 Pro and M5 Max chips and supports up to 16 TB of storage.

What these announcements tell us
Two themes run through the week. The first is on-device artificial intelligence: every new chip is presented in terms of how well it runs AI models locally, without going through the cloud. Siri AI in Spanish is the part of that investment most people will use every day. The second is that the Mac is moving closer to the iPad and iPhone: a touchscreen, Dynamic Island and mobile apps you can test with your finger on a laptop. For years, the Mac stayed away from touchscreens. This week, it took that step.
The devices arrive in stores on November 6. That’s when we’ll find out whether Apple’s figures hold up outside its own tests.
