Support for Huawei devices

While Android holds a significant share of the global smartphone market, it is important to note that not all Android-based devices operate under the same framework.

One example is Huawei, which offers a different ecosystem that sets it apart from other Android device manufacturers.

Compatibility barriers #

Huawei devices, running on the customized EMUI (Emotion UI) version of Android, notably differ from other Android devices by lacking Google Mobile Services (GMS). This absence is primarily due to Huawei’s inability to license GMS services from Google, including essential components like the Google Play Store.

Consequently, the absence of GMS creates a significant compatibility barrier that prevents the integration of Huawei devices with Applivery. These devices, without GMS pre-installation, rely on Huawei Mobile Services (HMS) as an alternative. However, this alternative does not support compatibility with the Android Management API, a crucial tool for remote device management. The Android Management API heavily depends on GMS functionality to enable efficient configuration, policy enforcement, and application deployment by MDM solutions.
