Managing Books

This article describes all the possibilities you have for the management of Books for Apple devices in Applivery.

Deploying books for devices or users

Books are managed differently depending on the device where they are deployed:

  • iPhone & iPad: Books must be deployed through the device channel which means that they will be present in the entire device, for all users.
  • Mac: Books are deployed through the user channel which means that they will only be available for a given user.
You can deploy books to just one device or many devices at once by using Policies.

Deploying books to a single device

Through the Applivery dashboard, navigate to any of your devices from Device management > Devices. Then go to the Books tab and click + Assign Book button.

You can either select an existing book from the list of assets or upload a new one clicking Upload new asset button. Choose the asset that you want from the dropdown list and then click Add.

The book will be automatically deployed to your device. You can check the installation status from the list of Books. You can force the Sync process by clicking Sync policy.

Remove book from device:
Just click the X mark beside to the “Assigned X” green button.

Deploying books to multiple devices at once using policies

You can also manage Books, deploy them to multiple devices and maintain them synced by using Policies.

Just go to any of your policies from Policies top menu and then navigate to the Books left side option.
Then click + Add Book button.

As mentioned before, you can either select an existing book from the list of assets or upload a new one clicking Upload new asset button. Click Upload new asset button and select a .pdf or .epub file from your files.

Now just type the name of the book and click Add to upload it.

Last, don’t forget to click Save changes to save and deploy these changes to all the devices associated to that policy

Managing your Books

You can see and manage the entire list of Books that you have uploaded by going to Device Management > Assets. Use the Filter to just show the Books.
